The Trusted Choice for Emergency Plumbing

When plumbing emergencies hit, speed and accuracy matter. We know that a burst pipe at 2 AM is not just a repair. It feels like a crisis. Water spreading across your floor can create panic in seconds. We show up fast, fix it right, and treat your home with the respect it deserves.

No hot water in your St. Augustine home near US-1, SR-312, or around Historic Downtown? That’s not something you want to wait on. Water heater repair involves diagnosing and fixing problems like heating element failures, leaks, corrosion, or mineral buildup so your system can produce consistent hot water again. Here in St. Augustine, we don’t see just one type of failure; it depends on where the home is and what kind of system you have. In Historic Downtown, many homes still have older plumbing systems, so we see worn components and buildup occurring more quickly. Out toward St. Augustine Beach, the salt air and humidity break down fittings and tank exteriors much more quickly than in inland homes.

Then, across all of St. Johns County, water from the Floridan Aquifer carries minerals such as calcium. In many homes here, hardness levels are often in the 15–20 grains per gallon range, which means scale builds up inside the system faster than most homeowners expect. We see these three factors working together all the time: aging systems, coastal exposure, and mineral buildup. At Totally Hooked, we focus on identifying the actual cause of the issue and fixing it correctly so you’re not dealing with the same problem again. Call now to schedule service and get your hot water working again.

Ryan and Scott came over to diagnose a faucet leak -they replaced the cartridge to save the faucet when a different company said I needed a new faucet. They were both a pleasure to work with. Customer Service was on point and very fast turnaround time on fixing the faucet.

I contacted Totally Hooked Plumbing & Drains through a Google ad because I needed a company with the ability to run a camera through my drain pipes. My owner’s suite shower wasn’t operating correctly, and I wanted to make sure there weren’t any roots in the line. Scheduling was very easy, everyone I spoke with over the phone was helpful, clear, and professional. Communication was excellent. Collin, the technician, was available earlier than expected, and instead of just showing up, the office called to confirm if that worked for me. That alone was impressive. When Collin arrived, he was friendly and professional. He greeted me by name, shook my hand, and got right to work while still carrying on a pleasant conversation. He asked thoughtful questions to better understand the issue and shared information that I didn’t know, which will even help me in guiding my real estate clients in the future. He went above and beyond by also checking our water filter, which hasn’t worked since we moved in. I really appreciated his honesty and the time he took to walk through everything with us. The estimate was free I just had to pay $69 for the drain cleaning. In today’s world, good customer service can be hard to find, but Collin made me feel like a person, not just another job. I look forward to working with Totally Hooked Plumbing & Drains again in the future, and I’ll be sharing their information with my network.

When your water heater goes out, you don’t need a long explanation; you need someone who can walk in, take a look, and fix it.

  • Fast response times across St. Augustine and all of St. Johns County
  • Experience working in Historic Downtown homes and newer developments off SR-16 and US-1
  • Familiar with tank and tankless systems from brands like Rinnai, Navien, and Rheem
  • The repair-first approach focused on fixing the issue instead of pushing for a replacement
  • Clear communication so you know exactly what’s going on
  • Clean, respectful work inside your home

We’re a newer company, but most of what we do comes from the same problems we see every day in homes around St. Augustine: buildup, corrosion, and worn components from older systems. We are a licensed Florida plumbing company (FL License #CFC1432554) and follow state standards for safe, compliant repairs.

Schedule your repair today and get your system working again.

In St. Augustine, water heater problems often build up over time, especially in mineral-rich water and older plumbing systems.

  • No Hot Water or Inconsistent Temperatures

If your hot water drops out or fluctuates, it’s often due to buildup inside the system or a failing component. We see this a lot in homes throughout St. Johns County, where calcium accumulates quickly.

  • Strange Noises from the Tank

Rumbling or popping sounds usually indicate that sediment has settled to the bottom of the tank. With water hardness levels in this area, this can happen faster than most homeowners expect.

  • Leaks Around the Unit

Leaks are often tied to corrosion. In coastal areas near St. Augustine Beach, salt air speeds up wear on fittings and tank seams.

  • Discolored or Smelly Water

Rust-colored water can point to corrosion inside the tank. Odors can come from bacterial buildup, especially in older systems that haven’t been flushed regularly. If something seems off, it’s better to get it checked before it turns into a larger repair.

We focus on repairing your system and getting it working again without pushing unnecessary replacements. For more details, see our water heater repair services.

Many homes in St. Augustine, especially in Historic Downtown, still rely on tank systems installed years ago.

We regularly fix:

  • Heating elements that have burned out
  • Thermostats that aren’t regulating correctly
  • Sediment and calcium buildup from mineral-heavy water
  • Pressure valve issues
  • Corrosion-related leaks

In many of these homes, we’re dealing with both age and buildup simultaneously, which is why these systems tend to need repairs more often.

Newer homes across St. Johns County, especially in areas off SR-16 and along US-1, often use tankless water heaters.

We handle:

  • Calcium scale buildup is restricting flow
  • Ignition and sensor issues
  • System error codes
  • Inconsistent hot water performance

Even without a storage tank, mineral buildup still forms in these systems and must be addressed to keep them running properly.

We keep the process simple:

  • Inspect the system and identify what’s causing the issue
  • Walk you through what’s going on in simple terms
  • Provide clear repair options
  • Complete the repair
  • Test everything before we leave

The goal is to fix the issue properly so you’re not dealing with it again anytime soon.

What Makes St. Augustine Homes Unique

Water heaters in St. Augustine are subject to a combination of conditions that depend on the home’s location and age. Homes around Historic Downtown often have older plumbing systems, which means components wear out faster and buildup becomes a bigger issue.

Closer to St. Augustine Beach, salt air and humidity break down metal parts over time, leading to corrosion and leaks.

Across all of St. Johns County, water from the Floridan Aquifer contains minerals like calcium that build up inside systems. In many areas, water hardness levels exceed 15–20 grains per gallon, which means scale forms quickly and puts extra strain on both tank and tankless systems. Learn more about hard water and mineral content.

Because of this mix, older homes, coastal exposure, and mineral-heavy water, we see a wide range of issues depending on the property.

When Repair Is the Right Call

Many homeowners ask whether they should repair or replace their water heater.

In many cases, repair is the right call, especially when the issue is limited to a specific part, such as a heating element, thermostat, or buildup inside the system.

We take a repair-first approach. That means we look at what’s actually causing the issue and whether fixing it makes sense before recommending anything else.

If the system is still in good overall condition, a proper repair can get it working again and extend its lifespan without unnecessary cost.

We keep everything straightforward:

  • You call or schedule service
  • We show up on time
  • We diagnose the issue
  • We explain what’s going on
  • We fix it
  • You get your hot water back

No confusion, no unnecessary upsells, just getting the problem handled.

In many cases, yes. If the issue is caught early, repair is often the best option.

Most repairs can be completed in one visit, depending on the issue.

Water from the Floridan Aquifer contains minerals like calcium, and with hardness levels often above 15–20 grains per gallon, buildup happens quickly inside systems.

Yes, we provide water heater repair services throughout St. Augustine and across St. Johns County.
